Ancient Egypt and China Day

The Dancer and The Cheerleader had Ancient Egypt and China Day at school. As you can see, they made Egyptian collars (or whatever those are called) and Chinese crowns. The Dancer decided she didn't like straight hair, so she curled it. She has stick straight hair just like her mom, so I guess we'll be investing in a curling iron for her one day. They loved the chopsticks they got. But, they thought the dates they were offered as part of an Egyptian snack were bugs. Needless to say, those will not be on our grocery list anytime soon.

The Sleepover

Tonight, we have company. The Dancer's friend, Taylor, is spending the night. They met in Kindergarten. They clicked right away because they (or at least their mothers) have the same taste in clothing. They used to show up to class wearing the same outfits a lot. It got to the point where they would plan it. Last year, they weren't in the same class, and The Dancer was not happy, but Second Grade has brought them back together again. The three girls are upstairs screaming and giggling like little girls do. Wonderful Husband and The Chef took off for the movies. They couldn't take it - Chickens!

Bad Idea

I had managed to not be one of everyone I know who watched LOST the past few years. But, being the TV addict I am, I could not resist watching all the "catch up" shows they aired with the reruns that had captions telling you what had gone on, who the characters were, etc. Now, I am TIVOing it. Well, last night I couldn't sleep, so I got the brilliant idea to watch the past couple of episodes I hadn't had a chance to view yet. NOT a good idea when it is around Midnight and you are by yourself. After watching, I tried to go to sleep but heard every noise in the house. I totally had the creeps. It was so bad, I had to go get The Dancer and bring her in to bed with me. Thankfully, she didn't seem to find it strange that her mom was moving her at 1:30 in the morning.

I won't be doing that again.

Wintry Mix

I realize it has been a while since I posted anything on here. Honestly, I just haven't had much to report. We are in the boring part of winter here. I remember as a kid that when February rolled around, it was the worst part of winter. The snow on the ground would turn to mush and would be dirty. The piles of snow that had been made from clearing the roads - the ones we used to have fun playing King of the Hill on - would turn to hard ice, and everything was just mushy and boring. It is still that way now - although there aren't many piles of snow around - in fact there are none.

We had a nice Valentine's Day. I found a woman on EBay who made matching pajamas for little girls and their American Girl dolls, so The Gals got those as their special present. Wonderful Husband brought home some beautiful flowers from his delivery job, and The Chef is counting down the days until he graduates. (So are we.)

The weather has been so topsy-turvy - one day like spring, the next back to winter. It is no wonder we all have the sniffles.

It is just booorrring! I hope you are having a more exciting time.

Once Again

Today was another beautiful day. It got up to like 67 degrees, I think. The Gals spent the afternoon playing in the cul de sac - drawing chalk pictures and riding their bikes. And Wonderful Husband actually installed outside lighting - ALL BY HIMSELF. I am so proud of him. He never thinks he can do stuff like that - but he can! And it looks great. Tomorrow is supposed to be even better. I wish it would stay 67 degrees all the time!

What A Way To Start The Day

The Gals could not pass up a chance to play in the 1/4 inch of snow on the ground this morning. I have never seen them get ready to go to school so fast. It was the good snow, too - perfect for snowballs. Too bad it will all be melted before they get back home this afternoon.

Chocolate Fix

No one in this house can pass a chance to eat cake in this house. The Gals decided it was their turn to frost it.

Family Tradition

As long as I can remember, my ma and I have always placed a bet on the Super Bowl. The bet is always a couple of candy bars, so I know it goes back to when I had no money. We never discuss it beforehand - normally on the day of the Superbowl. This year, I got to choose first and chose Arizona (I like Kurt Warner). Hopefully, I'll be receiving a couple of Snicker bars very soon.

Spring Fever

The weather is absolutely BEAUTIFUL today! Wonderful Husband, The Gals and I all decided to go on a bike ride. It is the longest The Gals have ridden since they got rid of their training wheels. As you can see by the pictures, the area we live in is so pretty. We are really blessed. Wonderful Husband and I love to be near the water, so any chance we get we go for a walk or ride our bikes on this trail.

Date Night

It has been far too long since Wonderful Husband and I have had a date night. Between his travelling, and my Mono, not to mention the cost of a babysitter, we just haven't done it. Shame on us! Well, last night we joined our Dear Onofrys for dinner and bowling. The food was great, and the bowling was fun. It was worth every penny!
