Goin' To The Big D

I am off to Dallas on Wednesday for the MOPS Convention. I am so nervous about flying that far by myself (I HATE to fly), but I know once I am there it will be an awesome time. It is just so amazing to be in a room of 5000 women all of whom have the same goal. I told Mike that I am coming back with an "I Shot JR" t-shirt. I don't know why, but that cracks me up! Don't you just love it when you find yourself funny. :)

I'll let you know how it goes when I get back.

Indian Princess Campout

Yes, it was time again for the Indian Princess Campout. The Gals have talked about nothing else all week. It rained this time, but that didn't put a damper on their fun. They just got to get muddy! Mike said he couldn't take the cabin and the snoring and bathroom trips anymore, so the second night they slept in a tent that the Onofry family was nice enough to share. Madeline and Amanda thought that was great!

The funniest part of the whole weekend had to be this: Madeline came home and told me all about how they had new bathrooms there. But there are no signs on the door to tell you which one is for the boys and which one is for the girls. So, Madeline said she smelled each one, and she knew that the one that smelled better was for the girls. Those daddys can really stink up a bathroom. :)

German süßer Fratz

It's Oktoberfest time again, so that means my two cutie pie nephews in Germany get to dress up. I wish we had fun stuff like that here. And I really wish we had John and Tom here.

The Dentist

Madeline and Amanda had dentist appointments this afternoon for their regular cleaning. As usual, I ran back and forth between the two cubicles they were in making sure everything was OK. Thankfully, this time, they were next to each other and not at opposite ends of the office. After they were both done getting their teeth cleaned, and we were waiting for the dentist to come in, they started yelling to each other. "What flavor did you get?" "What color toothbrush did they give you?" "Did it hurt?" They were describing the different things around each of their chairs, and were laughing together. It was wonderful. For five minutes they were getting along and behaving the way they were supposed to. Isn't it funny how sometimes the sweetest things can happen in the strangest places? I'll be treasuring that time later as they start screaming at each other over who gets to get out of the bathtub first or who gets to wear the blue pajamas.

Freaking Out

I have a Senior in high school - at least he is a Senior right now. He may not live to see June and his graduation. I have not seen one piece of paper with any type of calendar, schedule -- anything! Tonight, I looked on the school website, and they have a calendar. According to the calendar, we have to order his graduation announcements in a week and a half. Have I seen an order form? NO! There's no mention of Senior Pictures, so I am assuming we missed those, and I am scheduling my own appointment for them this week. Who knows if it will make it in the yearbook.

This year is going to drive me crazy! He may be the only kid walking next June without a cap and gown. Do you think I could get his teachers to pin everything to his shirt?

Madeline's Bad Day

As soon as Madeline got off the bus today she told me she had had a bad day. Then, she gave me the rundown of everything that had happened:

#1 - She got hit on the nose with a hulahoop
#2 - The soup I packed her for lunch leaked
#3 - When she opened her applesauce, it spilled on her shorts
#4 - Her nose wouldn't stop running

Tonight, she told me she didn't want to go to school tomorrow because today had been so bad. I told her chances were it would be better. So, if you are reading this, please pray for Madeline to have a good day. Thank you!

Schedule From H-E-Double Toothpicks

For the next two months, Mondays for me are going to STINK! Madeline has dance at 5:30. Amanda has cheerleading practice at 6:00. Madeline is done with dance at 6:30, and Amanda is done with cheerleading practice at 7:30. Thankfully, both things take place within a couple miles of each other. In fact, I am traveling back and forth from one end of our subdivision to the other. Tonight was our first night with double duty, and I would say it worked out OK. I wonder how smoothly it will go when homework starts kicking in.

C is for . . . Can you believe how fat I am going to be?

So, Logan came home from the Tech Center where he is doing Baking and Pastry Arts this year and had about 2 dozen butterscotch white chocolate chip cookies for me. And they were wonderful. I don't know how I am going to make it this year with all the cookies and cakes and breads he is going to bake. He actually has to take a cake carrier to school so he can bring all of his goodies home. I have such a big sweet tooth -- and it looks like it will be getting even larger (along with my hips).

2nd Grade Girls

Madeline and Amanda were very happy to go to school today. I got up early and made pancakes for everyone. I am so excited to see what they learn and how they grow this year.

The First Day Of The Last Year Of High School

My baby started his Senior Year today. I cannot believe it. It feels like yesterday that we moved to Richmond, and he started Kindergarten. He was not happy when I stopped the bus to take his picture that day, and he was the same way this morning. Course, he doesn't take the bus anymore. That wouldn't be cool.

Labor Day

We have had a great day of sun and fun. We spent the early afternoon at the pool where the girls got to dive for sodas (they loved that) and swim in the pool for the last time this summer. We came home, took showers, ate dinner and then left for a party at The Pavilion - our neighborhood park on the water. We got to listen to a band while the girls got their faces painted and played with their friends Gabby and Madison. It was a wonderful way to end the summer.
