The Dentist

Madeline and Amanda had dentist appointments this afternoon for their regular cleaning. As usual, I ran back and forth between the two cubicles they were in making sure everything was OK. Thankfully, this time, they were next to each other and not at opposite ends of the office. After they were both done getting their teeth cleaned, and we were waiting for the dentist to come in, they started yelling to each other. "What flavor did you get?" "What color toothbrush did they give you?" "Did it hurt?" They were describing the different things around each of their chairs, and were laughing together. It was wonderful. For five minutes they were getting along and behaving the way they were supposed to. Isn't it funny how sometimes the sweetest things can happen in the strangest places? I'll be treasuring that time later as they start screaming at each other over who gets to get out of the bathtub first or who gets to wear the blue pajamas.
